ONLINE VIDEO: The Brain, Behavior & Emotional Well-Being - Guest Expert Dr. Lori Desautels
The past 18 months have tested our children like never before — isolation, chronic unpredictability, instability, crushing academic pressures, ever-shifting expectations, and the list goes on and on. And we have yet to see the full impact these challenges and conditions have had on our students — particularly those with ADHD and learning challenges. In this online video, leading expert, Dr. Lori Desautels shares how adversity and trauma impact the developing brain and body, affecting behaviors, learning, relationships, our ability to recognize states of stress, and our overall emotional well-being.
We dive into the research on resiliency and how our brains and bodies repair and heal. Typical tools used in the past to help children regulate emotions and behaviors might be counterproductive now. Dr. Desautels offers cutting-edge practices for helping children and their families effectively manage emotions, reduce overwhelm, and build resilience.
Topics in this one-hour online video include:
The impact of adversity and trauma on our behavior and overall emotional well-being.
How to use a strength-based approach to improve the challenges your child is facing.
Cutting edge practices to help children build their resiliency “muscle.”
Using appropriate parent-led language to communicate effectively with your child to help them manage their emotions.
And so much more...
